Ripple has spotlighted a broader push into crypto-powered philanthropy, detailing how it helped Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity) begin accepting digital-asset donations while contributing more than £60,000 in XRP to support pediatric care initiatives.

From direct funding to donation infrastructure

According to Ripple, the partnership goes beyond a one-off contribution. The company said it was the first organization to make a cryptocurrency donation to GOSH Charity, and it has since worked to help the nonprofit integrate crypto giving into its fundraising operations. Through a collaboration with Zodia Markets, crypto donations can be converted into pound sterling, allowing the charity to manage digital-asset contributions within its existing financial systems while addressing technical, regulatory, and operational requirements.

The relationship began in 2023, when Ripple pledged £100,000 toward the hospital’s new Children’s Cancer Centre. The partnership later expanded through sponsorship of the Love GOSH galas in 2024 and 2025, which together helped raise nearly £2 million. Ripple employees also joined fundraising efforts by running the London Marathon, cycling from London to Paris, and volunteering at events including the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, generating more than £25,000 in additional support.

Crypto philanthropy moves into the mainstream

Ripple’s update comes as digital-asset giving gains wider traction across the nonprofit sector. The Giving Block’s 2025 Crypto Philanthropy Report found that crypto donations surpassed $1 billion in 2024. It also said 70% of Forbes’ Top 100 Charities now accept digital assets, a 25% increase from the previous year, while the average crypto donation climbed to $10,978.28.

These figures suggest that charities are increasingly viewing crypto as a practical fundraising channel, particularly for cross-border donations, operational efficiency, and transparent payment flows. In GOSH Charity’s case, larger crypto gifts can support medical equipment, research, facilities, and family services for seriously ill children. The organization accepts cryptocurrency donations above £10,000.

Overall, Ripple is positioning XRP-based giving as part of a wider institutional philanthropy strategy, while GOSH Charity’s adoption of crypto donations highlights how digital assets are becoming a workable funding tool for major healthcare nonprofits.
