Ripple's development arm, RippleX, has announced a new hiring push for senior software engineers to advance the XRP Ledger (XRPL) scalability, performance, and institutional-grade capabilities. The move signals a key step toward onboarding mainstream financial institutions into the blockchain ecosystem.
Job Details: Focus on C++ and Rust Tech Stack
J. Ayo Akinyele, head of engineering at RippleX, revealed on social media platform X that the team is seeking two senior software engineers — one specializing in C++, and another proficient in both C++ and Rust. The C++ position, based in New York, is tasked with improving XRPL's scalability, performance, reliability and overall ledger functionality, including lifecycle development, architecture input, C++ feature implementation, debugging, performance checks, and participation in code reviews. Candidates must have over five years of C++ experience, a bachelor's degree in computer science, and distributed systems expertise.
The C++/Rust role targets XRPL programmability and smart contract expansion, focusing on maintaining core ledger components and supporting WebAssembly (Wasm) virtual machine integration. The position requires proficiency in C++ and Rust, experience with WebAssembly runtime, architectural engagement, system design documentation, and open-source stewardship. The salary range for both roles in New York is $152,000 to $190,000 per year.
Rebuilding Global Financial Infrastructure
Akinyele stated: “The world’s financial infrastructure is being rebuilt in real time, and XRPL is positioned to power the next generation of global value exchange.” He emphasized that Ripple is designing the backbone of on-chain financial primitives and reimagining what a sustainable, high-performance blockchain can unlock for institutions, developers, and millions of users. Supporters believe XRPL's low transaction costs, high reliability, and settlement speed can significantly reduce reconciliation friction and improve financial network efficiency, while critics point to regulatory uncertainties.
This hiring drive is part of Ripple's ongoing expansion of the XRPL ecosystem. The company has previously focused on expanding programmability, introducing WebAssembly features, and supporting more complex decentralized applications.
