Ripple has officially launched Ripple Treasury, a corporate treasury platform that merges traditional cash management systems with Ripple's blockchain infrastructure. The solution targets long-standing pain points for corporate treasuries: slow settlement times, fragmented systems, and limited visibility into cross-border payments.
RLUSD Powers 3-Second Settlements
According to Ripple's blog post, Ripple Treasury combines GTreasury's enterprise software with Ripple's own technology. The standout feature is its use of the RLUSD stablecoin for cross-border settlements, completing transactions in three to five seconds compared to the multiple business days required by traditional payment rails. The platform treats digital asset platforms as "digital banks," allowing businesses to manage both fiat and digital assets from a single unified interface — replacing spreadsheet-based workflows and fragmented API integrations.
Key operational processes like liquidity management and asset reconciliation are automated through blockchain technology. Ripple says the platform can significantly lower operational costs and boost business agility, enabling instant cross-border payments and automatic reconciliation without manual intervention.
Regulatory Milestones and Global Expansion
The launch coincides with Ripple's broader push into regulated financial services. Earlier this year, Ripple secured an Electronic Money Institution license from the UK's Financial Conduct Authority, signaling its intent to expand its payments platform across Europe. It also received preliminary approval for an EMI license in Luxembourg. Additionally, Ripple acquired Hidden Road, a prime broker, to give institutional clients access to short-term liquidity markets, repo markets, and other financial services.
These regulatory and acquisition moves give Ripple Treasury a compliance-ready foundation for optimizing cash management. For companies looking to future-proof their treasury operations, Ripple Treasury offers a bridge between traditional finance and the rapidly growing digital asset space. Whether it can live up to the promise of replacing legacy banking systems will depend on real-world adoption, but Ripple has delivered its first fully fledged blockchain-based treasury product.
