On March 3, 2026, Ripple Prime secured regulatory approval and officially joined the directory of the National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC), a subsidiary of the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC). The NSCC is the primary clearing and settlement provider for U.S. securities. Being listed now allows Ripple Prime to offer blockchain-based post-trade settlement directly in American markets via the XRP Ledger, giving traditional financial institutions access to faster and cheaper clearing.
Hidden Road Acquisition as a Catalyst
Ripple’s acquisition of Hidden Road last year played a crucial role in this integration. Before the deal, Hidden Road served investment banks and institutional clients with an annual trading volume of around $3 trillion. After completing the acquisition, Ripple announced plans to migrate Hidden Road’s post-trade operations onto the XRP Ledger ecosystem. This move paved the way for Ripple Prime to meet NSCC requirements and offer blockchain-based settlement to its large institutional network.
David Schwartz: A Milestone for Institutional Adoption
David Schwartz, Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer, called the NSCC listing a significant milestone for expanding institutional adoption of the XRP Ledger. He noted that the breakthrough could have a far-reaching impact on how traditional finance embraces blockchain-based post-trade processes.
Expanding Product Suite on XRPL
Beyond clearing infrastructure, the XRP Ledger ecosystem is seeing growing institutional interest. French banking giant Societe Generale recently launched its euro-denominated stablecoin on XRPL, marking one of the first major European bank-issued stablecoins on a public blockchain. Furthermore, the platform has introduced options and other derivatives specifically designed for institutional clients, broadening the range of financial products available on XRPL.
Security Alert: Scammers Target Xaman Users
As institutional activity picks up, so do security threats. XRP Ledger developer Wietse Wind issued a warning to Xaman wallet users about fraudulent NFT offers circulating in the community. Wind clarified that Xaman never distributes any digital “passes” or NFTs, and urged users not to accept unsolicited transactions from unknown wallets. Developers advise users to avoid interacting with unfamiliar accounts, reject suspicious proposals immediately, and never share their private recovery phrases. These precautions come at a time when the network is experiencing heightened integrations and a surge in institutional engagement, making security awareness critical.
