Ripple officially launched its enterprise treasury platform, Ripple Treasury, on January 27, 2026, embedding XRP and the RLUSD stablecoin into global corporate treasury operations. The platform aims to streamline liquidity, cross-border payments, and institutional capital flows at scale using real-time digital asset infrastructure.

Ripple Treasury: A Digital Asset Upgrade for Corporate Finance

Built in partnership with GTreasury—which Ripple acquired for $1 billion in a deal announced October 16, 2025 and closed December 4—Ripple Treasury is described as "the world's first comprehensive treasury platform combining 40 years of proven enterprise expertise with cutting-edge digital asset infrastructure." The platform currently processes approximately $12.5 trillion in annual payments for clients including American Airlines and Volvo. GTreasury noted that many finance teams are "stuck managing growing complexity with fewer resources, constrained by outdated legacy infrastructure" and that Ripple Treasury changes that equation.

The acquisition and subsequent launch have accelerated platform expansion. GTreasury highlighted increased engineering capacity, the acquisition of Solvexia for reconciliation capabilities, and broader deployment of AI-driven analytics. The digital asset infrastructure already serves hundreds of financial institutions across more than 75 jurisdictions, operating continuously to support cross-border payments and institutional custody.

The Roles of XRP and RLUSD

Ripple Treasury provides a concrete enterprise use case for both XRP and RLUSD. XRP functions as a bridge currency, enabling near-instant cross-border payments and on-demand liquidity. RLUSD, Ripple's dollar-backed stablecoin, serves as the dollar-denominated layer for collateralization, institutional yield, and programmable low-volatility treasury payments. Increased settlement flow on the XRP Ledger is expected to drive higher transaction volumes and incremental fee burns.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has repeatedly underscored the strategic importance of XRP. In a post, he stated: "As we continue to build solutions towards enabling an Internet of Value – I'm reminding you all that XRP sits at the center of everything Ripple does. Lock in." He later added: "Our two major acquisitions – Ripple Prime and GTreasury – greatly accelerate and expand our ability to deliver on our vision, enabling the Internet of Value. XRP has been (and will continue to be) the heartbeat of that vision." Reece Merrick, Ripple's Managing Director for Asia-Pacific and Middle East, summed up the direction: "The future of treasury has no friction or boundaries."

With Ripple Treasury live, XRP and RLUSD have stepped into real institutional utility at scale, bridging traditional corporate finance with blockchain technology and advancing Ripple's vision of an Internet of Value.
