Ripple's University Digital Asset Xcelerator (UDAX) completed its first pilot cohort at UC Berkeley, with nine startups transforming academic concepts into deployable products on the XRP Ledger over six weeks.
How UDAX Works: Mentorship, Tech Support & VC Access
The program is part of Ripple's long-running University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI). It provides hands-on technical support from Ripple engineers, mentorship from co-founder Chris Larsen and CTO Emeritus David Schwartz, and direct introductions to global venture capital networks. The launch summit took place at UC Berkeley, while demo day was held at Ripple's San Francisco headquarters.
Both Larsen and Schwartz highlighted UDAX's ability to translate academic concepts into enterprise-grade XRP tools during the closing event.
Startup Results: From Tipping to Tokenized Markets
Among the nine teams, WaveTip deployed a Twitch tipping feature on XRPL mainnet; X-Card amassed over $1.5 million in collectibles value; and CRX Digital Assets increased its tokenized asset volume from $39 million to $58 million while exploring international credit markets. Other projects tackled decentralized insurance, cross-border payments, and creator economy tools.
Post-program, founders saw a 67% improvement in product maturity and a 92% rise in investor confidence, according to internal metrics shared by Ripple.
XRP Price: Little Reaction from the Token
Despite the program's operational success, XRP's price showed no notable move. At the time of writing, XRP traded around $2.06-$2.07, down 0.7%-1.0% in 24 hours, with a trading volume of $2.11-$2.5 billion. After touching nearly $2.40 in early January, the token has been consolidating in the $2.00-$2.05 range, with buyers targeting a breakout above $2.20.
Ripple plans to expand UDAX cohorts globally to further drive long-term XRPL ecosystem adoption, even if short-term price effects remain muted.
