Ripple released more than 1 billion XRP in June, but the headline figure does not mean all of it will hit the market. Traders are watching how much gets relocked and whether XRP can hold support near $1.340.

Ripple released more than 1 billion XRP from escrow in June. The largest transfer unlocked 500 million XRP, valued at about $666.07 million. A second transaction released 400 million XRP worth roughly $532.86 million, followed by a third transfer of 100 million XRP valued near $133.21 million.

The monthly escrow release is part of Ripple’s long-running supply management structure tied to the original XRP distribution model. XRP Ledger has a maximum supply of 100 billion tokens, and market data from early June 2026 put circulating supply at around 61.85 billion XRP. After the latest unlock, the remaining escrow balance was estimated at about 38.15 billion XRP.

Why the unlock figure is only part of the picture

The amount released from escrow does not automatically equal fresh supply hitting the open market. Ripple has regularly put a large share of unlocked XRP back into escrow. David Schwartz, Ripple’s CTO, previously said the company voluntarily relocks XRP it does not expect to need, use, or sell. In practice, each unused tranche returned to escrow adds another month to the schedule.

That is why investors tend to focus on what happens after the release. The key questions are how much XRP is moved, how much is sold, and how much is sent back into escrow. The headline unlock number alone does not show the actual increase in circulating sellable supply.

Network activity on XRP Ledger kept rising in Q1

Separate data from the first quarter of 2026 showed continued growth on XRP Ledger. Messari said XRP finished the quarter as the fourth-largest non-stablecoin crypto asset by market capitalization, behind Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BNB. Average daily transactions on the network climbed 35.3%, rising from 1.83 million to 2.48 million.

The report linked that growth to institutional DeFi applications, tokenized real-world assets, stablecoins, and decentralized liquidity features. Ripple’s dollar-pegged stablecoin RLUSD reached a market capitalization of $340.3 million on XRP Ledger by the end of the quarter, up 45% from the previous quarter. It was the largest stablecoin on the network at that point.

RWA value and ETF holdings remain in focus

The same report said the value of real-world assets on XRP Ledger jumped 124% quarter over quarter to a record $2.25 billion. By the end of Q1, the network ranked seventh in that category, while newer data showed it had moved up to fourth. Spot XRP ETFs in the United States also remained part of the market structure, holding a combined 775.4 million XRP at quarter-end, equal to about 1.26% of circulating supply.

Short-term chart levels center on $1.340 and $1.368

After the escrow release, XRP traded near $1.349 on the hourly chart. The report said price action was still moving inside an ascending channel, with the lower support line acting as a key reference point for short-term direction. Immediate support was identified around $1.340. If that area holds, traders may look for a test of $1.368.

A sustained move above $1.368 could shift attention to $1.395, which lines up with the upper boundary of the current channel. A close below $1.340, on the other hand, would weaken the structure of that channel and invalidate the near-term bullish setup described in the report.
