TechFlow reported on June 13, citing CoinDesk, that Ripple is attempting to bring XRP and its stablecoin Ripple USD into the AI agent payments market. The effort is aimed at the on-chain micropayments system, a segment that is still dominated by the dollar stablecoin USD Coin. As part of this push, Ripple has released the “XRPL AI Starter Kit,” a developer-focused toolkit designed to support payment capabilities for AI agents.

XRPL AI Starter Kit Targets Developer Workflows

According to the report, the XRPL AI Starter Kit provides tools that help developers build payment functions for AI agents. With the toolkit, agents can make payments on XRP Ledger, check balances, and perform wallet operations. Ripple is therefore packaging XRP Ledger’s payment, balance-query, and wallet-interaction capabilities into a form that developers can use when building automated agent workflows.

Automated Payments Built Around x402

The toolkit also supports automated payment flows based on the x402 protocol. The report states that Ripple is trying to use XRP and Ripple USD to enter the AI agent payments market, especially in on-chain micropayment scenarios. Since USD Coin remains the dominant asset in the current on-chain micropayments system, Ripple’s latest move is centered on infrastructure access and developer tooling rather than a disclosed large-scale commercial rollout.

At the time of the report, Ripple had not disclosed any scaled deployment customers, nor had it released real production-level AI agent payment transaction data. The project therefore remains in an early stage of infrastructure and developer-ecosystem exploration. The public information so far focuses on the toolkit itself, XRP Ledger payment functions, wallet operations, balance checks, and x402-based automated payment flows available to developers.
