MEME, a stock-meme project on Robinhood Chain, has surpassed a $57 million market capitalization and is up more than 40% over the past 24 hours, according to GMGN data cited by BlockBeats on Sept. 13.
AMC chief targets Robinhood stock-token model again
The market move came as AMC CEO Adam Aron again criticized Robinhood’s stock-token business. Responding to public remarks made over the past week by Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev and Dan Gallagher in defense of stock tokens, Aron called the approach 「offensive」 and said it departs from the basic concept of stock ownership.
Aron also questioned whether buyers of stock tokens receive fewer rights than actual shareholders, saying that issue could create confusion for investors. He added another challenge: if the real shares used as backing are lent to short sellers, can the related tokens still be considered genuinely backed on a 1:1 basis?
He described stock tokens as 「unregulated, derivative, synthetic or debt-backed securities」 and said they only simulate real shares.
MEME uses AMC token pair for liquidity
MEME uses Robinhood as its stock trading platform reference and pairs with tokenized AMC Entertainment stock, the U.S. theater company traded under ticker AMC, as its liquidity base. The project provides liquidity through the MEME/AMC trading pair.
How the Stock Meme model works
BlockBeats noted that 「Stock Meme」 refers to an emerging structure that directly combines traditional meme coins with tokenized U.S. equities. Instead of pairing meme tokens with USDT or ETH, these projects trade against on-chain stock tokens such as NVDA, TSLA, and AAPL.
Under that setup, the tokens keep the high-volatility and community-driven speculative profile commonly associated with meme coins while also attaching themselves to the popularity and narrative of real-world stocks. BlockBeats said trading fees are often partly routed back to community treasuries to accumulate the corresponding stock tokens, creating what it described as a dual-driver model of 「sentiment speculation + real-asset anchoring.」
BlockBeats added that price swings in this category can be large and investors should be cautious.
