Digital asset investment platform Rockawayx has acquired digital asset hedge fund Relayer Capital, adding its directional long-short strategy to an investment platform with about $2 billion under management.
Austin Barack, founder of Relayer Capital, will continue to run the strategy and will also serve as chief investment officer of the renamed Rockawayx Liquid Opportunities Fund. The fund is currently open to new outside investors.
Fund mandate and investment focus
Rockawayx CEO Viktor Fischer said the fund will invest in liquid crypto tokens and stocks linked to digital assets. Its focus is on assets the firm sees as mispriced relative to their business, market position or growth prospects.
Performance and key positions
Rockawayx said the strategy posted an estimated net return of about 70% from the start of 2026 through Aug. 21. That was 86 percentage points ahead of an equal-weighted basket of Bitcoin, Ether and Solana.
The main contributing positions included Venice AI, Hyperliquid, Grass Network, Pump.fun and Zcash. Investment themes were concentrated in AI and tokenized real-world assets.
How the strategy fits into Rockawayx
The acquisition adds a directional liquidity strategy to Rockawayx's existing venture capital and market-neutral businesses. Rockawayx also operates infrastructure and on-chain liquidity divisions, and said those capabilities help its team identify opportunities across blockchain markets from early-stage financing and token issuance to public-market trading.
