Salesforce CEO and co-founder Marc Benioff says the company is moving toward an ambitious milestone: reaching 1 billion AI agents by the end of 2025. In an interview with Bloomberg, Benioff said Salesforce is “remarkably on track,” suggesting that enterprise adoption of AI agents is accelerating faster than many expected.
According to Benioff, around 5,000 customers are already deploying the company’s AI agent technology, and the number of agents being created continues to grow. He also said artificial intelligence is now performing up to 50% of all tasks at Salesforce. That claim highlights how the company is using AI not only as a commercial offering, but also as a core part of its own internal operations.
Agentforce at the Center of the Push
The product at the center of this strategy is Agentforce, a platform designed to help businesses build and deploy AI agents at scale. Based on Benioff’s comments, customer uptake and the rapid creation of agents are emerging as major indicators of the platform’s momentum in the enterprise software market.
Salesforce has also backed the launch with a notable marketing push. The report says the company spent about $20 million for rights to the likeness of Albert Einstein as part of its Agentforce campaign. The move underscores Salesforce’s effort to give its AI strategy a distinctive brand identity while competing for attention in a crowded market.
Enterprise AI Competition Is Intensifying
Salesforce, based in San Francisco, has been deepening its AI strategy in recent years. Benioff’s latest comments add more visibility into how aggressively the company is scaling AI agents. While the report does not provide details on specific use cases or revenue impact, the disclosed customer count, internal automation rate, and marketing investment all point to one conclusion: Salesforce sees AI agents as a major driver of its next phase of growth.
