Samson Mow, CEO of the Bitcoin-focused technology firm Jan3, has made a bold prediction: Bitcoin could soar to $1 million per coin. Mow attributes this potential to a fundamental shift in supply and demand dynamics, suggesting that an “Omega Candle” could accelerate the move faster than many expect.
Current Price and Market Context
As of writing, Bitcoin trades around $75,000, after briefly surging to $79,000 and then retreating. While the all-time high above $126,000 has not been reclaimed, Mow remains optimistic. He argues that the market misprices Bitcoin’s supply, as many coins are still considered sellable but actual circulating supply is shrinking rapidly.
The Supply Shock Thesis
Mow points out that large Bitcoin treasury companies like MicroStrategy continue to accumulate, while institutional money flows in through ETFs and other vehicles. This dynamic is reducing available supply, potentially triggering a “supply shock” that could propel prices to new heights. He further views Bitcoin as a global reserve asset, with sovereign adoption further compressing supply and boosting demand.
Omega Candle: The Price Accelerator
Mow introduces the concept of an Omega Candle — an extreme, one-sided price rally similar to the vertical surges seen after previous halving cycles. He believes that when investors realize the fragility of the traditional monetary system and flock to Bitcoin en masse, such explosive moves become inevitable. He even speculates that Bitcoin could eventually reach $10 million per coin, though that would require time and a supportive macro environment.
Institutional and Sovereign Demand
Beyond corporate hoarding, some nations have already begun incorporating Bitcoin into strategic reserves. Early adopters like El Salvador and the Central African Republic may inspire more sovereign entities to follow. Mow argues that once countries begin competing to acquire Bitcoin, its scarcity will make it the rarest form of “digital gold,” opening up unlimited price upside.
While the market remains divided on such aggressive predictions, Mow’s views reflect the deep conviction among Bitcoin maximalists. Investors should note that cryptocurrency markets are highly volatile and chasing hype carries significant risk. Always conduct your own research and consult a qualified financial advisor before making investment decisions.
