Michael Saylor has stirred fresh speculation about another Bitcoin purchase after posting Strategy’s long-running accumulation chart on X with the message “The Second Century Begins”. The remark was widely taken as a signal that the company could be lining up its 101st Bitcoin acquisition.
Strategy currently holds 720,737 BTC, with the stash valued at more than $48.7 billion. Its most recent disclosed purchase took place between Feb. 23 and March 1, when the company bought 3,015 BTC at an average price of $67,700 per coin. That transaction was also described as Strategy’s 100th Bitcoin purchase.
Bitcoin stays below the $70,000 level
At the same time, Bitcoin has struggled to reclaim and hold $70,000. The report said the level has repeatedly failed as support and is now acting as resistance. At last check, BTC was trading around $67,500.
That price sits below Strategy’s average acquisition cost. Data from Bitcoin Treasuries puts the company’s average Bitcoin purchase price at about $75,992, leaving its holdings underwater on that basis at the quoted market price.
Geopolitical tension adds pressure to risk sentiment
The report linked recent weakness in crypto markets to rising tensions between the United States and Iran, which have weighed on risk appetite. Bitcoin has been unable to maintain stability above its recent psychological threshold, and caution has spilled over into Strategy-linked market metrics as well.
Strategy’s basic NAV was just below 1, meaning the stock was trading at a discount to the value of its underlying Bitcoin treasury. The company’s shares also closed down roughly 4.5% on March 6. The report said some investors remain cautious as Strategy continues to fund its Bitcoin accumulation plan through debt and equity financing.
