Ethereum layer-2 project Scroll said in a governance forum update on Sept. 9 that it plans to transition from a general-purpose public blockchain into a private, application-specific network centered on Compass and its broader AI product stack. The team said the full transition is expected to take about nine months.
According to Scroll, it has spent the past several months applying AI to network operations and product development, while building out a product suite that includes Compass, Compass API, CENO, USX and SCR. Compass offers AI models as well as services such as VPN and eSIM, while Compass API routes requests across more than 30 large language models. CENO, the team said, uses zero-knowledge technology to provide a trust layer for AI agents covering credentials, context and privacy-preserving computation.
Scroll also said CENO has more than 30 potential customers, with 12 already in proof-of-concept testing. Compass remains in an early consumer validation stage. As part of the transition plan, SCR will move to the Ethereum mainnet to preserve broad accessibility and liquidity. Scroll said the token’s supply and overall tokenomics will remain unchanged, and SCR will continue to serve as the governance token for the Scroll network. The team added that the forum post is only a progress update, not a formal proposal or vote, and that a detailed transition plan will be submitted to the DAO once the relevant details are finalized.

As part of the network transition plan, SCR will migrate to the Ethereum mainnet to maintain broad accessibility and liquidity. Scroll said SCR’s supply and overall tokenomics will not change, and the token will continue to serve as the governance token of the Scroll network.
