Societe Generale-FORGE (SG-FORGE) has announced a partnership with Consensys to integrate its MiCA-compliant stablecoin USD CoinVertible (USDCV) into MetaMask, the leading self-custodial Web3 wallet. The stablecoin will appear among a shortlist of available stablecoins on both mobile and web versions of MetaMask.

Full On-Chain Utility: Trading, DeFi, and Gas Fees

MetaMask users can now use USDCV for fiat on-ramping and off-ramping, crypto trading, and DeFi protocol interactions. The stablecoin also supports paying blockchain transaction fees via MetaMask's Gas Station feature, expanding its role beyond simple transfers into core wallet operations. MetaMask stated this aligns with its commitment to a seamless, secure, and self-custodial onboarding experience for Web3 adoption.

Leadership Views on Bridging Traditional Finance

Ethereum co-founder and Consensys CEO Joseph Lubin called stablecoins central to financial system evolution, bridging traditional frameworks with decentralized infrastructure. He emphasized building open, interoperable systems for broader access.

SG-FORGE CEO Jean-Marc Stenger said the integration marks progress toward an interoperable financial system that combines blockchain advantages with the compliance and security of a European bank-issued asset.

Transak as Exclusive Fiat Provider

Global payment infrastructure provider Transak serves as the exclusive fiat-to-stablecoin provider for USDCV within MetaMask. SG-FORGE noted this move builds on its wider strategy of integrating compliant stablecoins across traditional finance and crypto ecosystems. USDCV is the first MiCA-compliant stablecoin issued by a major European bank subsidiary, initially approved by France's AMF in 2024.
