Shanghai issues its Digital Shanghai plan for the next five years
Shanghai’s municipal government office has released the city’s 15th Five-Year Plan for building a “Digital Shanghai,” according to PANews, citing Caixin.
The plan says Shanghai will build a new framework for digital-economy development and carry out reform tasks under the national digital-economy innovation zone pilot in Shanghai.
It calls for breakthroughs in institutional exploration, scenario opening, data cooperation mechanisms and legal safeguards, while also accelerating the creation of a secure and fully built-out digital technology innovation system.
AI, metaverse and Web3.0 are named in the plan
The document says companies should be encouraged to lead innovation consortia and help remove bottlenecks in collaboration across industry, academia, research and application.
It also says Shanghai should strengthen functional platforms such as Moso Space and Molii Community, and promote application innovation and coordinated development across artificial intelligence, the metaverse and embodied intelligence.
In addition, the plan calls for research into a mechanism for a Web3.0 innovation testbed.
Data-industry cluster pilot work will also advance
The plan further says Shanghai will accelerate pilot construction for a national data-industry cluster zone and promote innovation in the regional data industry.
