SharpLink Gaming (SBET) said it has deployed $170 million worth of ether (ETH) to Consensys-backed Linea, putting a previously outlined treasury strategy into action. The move shifts the company from planning to execution in a multi-year program centered on generating yield from its ETH holdings.

In a post published Thursday on X, SharpLink said the structure combines native Ethereum staking yield, restaking rewards through provider EigenCloud, and incentives offered by Linea and ether.fi. The setup also uses a qualified custodian structure through Anchorage Digital, a detail the company highlighted as part of keeping tighter operational controls around the strategy.

Deployment Follows Earlier Plan to Allocate Up to $200M

The transaction builds on SharpLink’s earlier disclosure that it intended to allocate as much as $200 million of ETH to Linea over multiple years. With $170 million now deployed, the company has taken a substantial step toward carrying out that plan.

SharpLink described the arrangement as an institutional version of a trade already common in crypto-native markets: layering several sources of yield on top of ETH exposure while avoiding a fully decentralized finance custody model. The firm said this creates what it calls an “enhanced yield” profile designed to make its ETH treasury position more productive.

Linea Markets Itself as Lower-Cost Ethereum Execution

Linea is a zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine, or zkEVM, backed by Consensys. Platforms in this category process transactions in bundles and verify them in bulk on Ethereum, a structure aimed at delivering faster execution and lower costs than using mainnet directly. Linea has positioned itself as a venue for onchain capital deployment that still inherits Ethereum settlement and security while offering lower fees and faster execution.

The announcement also reflects a wider shift in how publicly traded crypto-linked firms present themselves to the market. Instead of focusing only on directional token exposure, companies are increasingly emphasizing yield generation and infrastructure, pitching themselves as compliant wrappers for institutional investors seeking onchain returns. SharpLink has already attracted market attention in recent months after Bernstein initiated coverage with an outperform rating and described the firm as an institutional gateway to Ethereum.
