TechFlow reported on June 13, citing Xinhua Daily, that police in Ya’an, Sichuan, have cracked a cross-border online obscenity-related criminal case. The case centered on a pornographic comic website called “Xiuxiu Seman,” which allegedly profited by inducing teenagers to make frequent small-value top-ups. According to the report, the site had more than 100 million visits, while the related fund flows exceeded 12 million yuan, equivalent to about 1.66 million U.S. dollars.

Police found that individuals inside China received the illicit proceeds through multiple companies and personal accounts. The funds were then transferred overseas by Li Mouwu and others through virtual currencies. The case involved the online dissemination of obscene materials, assistance to information network criminal activities, and cross-border movement of funds.

Recently, the People’s Court of Mingshan District in Ya’an issued a first-instance judgment. Five defendants received sentences for the crimes of disseminating obscene materials for profit and assisting information network criminal activities. Judicial authorities are still investigating the overseas financiers behind the website.
