SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won received KRW 1.75 billion in compensation in the first half of this year, according to Korean media reports and a half-year filing released by SK Inc. through the Financial Supervisory Service.

Executive compensation detailed in SK filing

The report said Chey’s first-half pay was unchanged from the same period last year. It also stated that he received no bonus in addition to his salary.

Chey Jae-won, the younger brother of the chairman and vice chairman of SK Group, received KRW 1.5 billion during the same period.

SK Inc. President Jang Yong-ho received KRW 1.8 billion in total compensation, including KRW 1 billion in salary and KRW 800 million in bonuses.

The filing also disclosed that Yoon Poong-young, chairman of the SK Supex Council, received KRW 7.715 billion in total compensation. That figure included KRW 500 million in salary, KRW 800 million in bonuses, and KRW 6.415 billion in compensation tied to 12,103 performance stock units, or PSUs, granted three years ago.

SK Hynix sales, pay, and investment figures

The disclosure also included operating data for SK Hynix. In the first half of the year, SK Hynix recorded more than KRW 17 trillion in sales from Nvidia, accounting for about 13% of the company’s total sales.

Average employee compensation at SK Hynix reached KRW 144 million in the first half, or about $104,000, up 23% from a year earlier.

SK Hynix also sharply increased equipment investment and research and development spending in the first half. Cash expenditure for the purchase of tangible assets exceeded KRW 18 trillion, up more than 70% year over year.

The number of retail shareholders in SK Hynix increased by more than five times over one year, surpassing 3.46 million.
