Incident Overview
Blockchain monitoring tool Com Feed reported that a user lost approximately 6,400 ETH (valued at around $10 million at current prices) in a social engineering scam. The attacker posed as customer support personnel and contacted the victim, successfully inducing them to transfer their assets. The stolen funds have since been dispersed across three distinct wallet addresses, complicating recovery efforts.
Such social engineering attacks are becoming increasingly common in the crypto space. Perpetrators often impersonate official customer support, project team members, or technical support to gain trust and then trick victims into transferring funds or revealing private keys. This incident serves as a reminder for high-net-worth individuals and institutions to rigorously verify communication channels and avoid interacting with unverified "support" agents.
