The Solana Foundation and Google Cloud have launched Pay.sh, a payment gateway that lets AI agents access APIs without requiring accounts or subscriptions. The system enables pay-per-call usage through Solana wallets, settling payments in stablecoins instantly. The initiative targets the friction of traditional API access, where agents previously relied on human-managed credentials and billing setups.
Agent-to-API Without Accounts
According to the Solana Foundation, Pay.sh allows agents to discover and pay for APIs directly from a unified marketplace. Agents link a Solana wallet to interfaces such as Gemini, Claude Code, Codex, Openclaw, and Hermes. After funding the wallet, they can begin using services immediately without account creation.
The gateway operates as an API proxy built on Google Cloud infrastructure, sitting in front of services like Gemini, BigQuery, Cloud Run, and Vertex AI. When an agent initiates a payment via the x402 protocol, the system verifies the request and enforces controls.
Wallet as Identity, Instant Settlement
The wallet acts as the agent's identity, eliminating the need for API keys or credential management. Payments settle within seconds using stablecoins on Solana. Providers receive reconciled payments without manual billing processes.
Through Pay.sh, agents can access official Google Cloud APIs and more than 50 third-party endpoints, including tools for AI inference, data warehousing, and blockchain infrastructure. Examples include Gemini, BigQuery, Vertex AI, and Cloud Run, as well as enterprise services.
The marketplace also includes community APIs across e-commerce, communications, and data intelligence. Providers such as Rye, BigCommerce, Exa, Dune Analytics, and Nansen support these categories.
Open Protocols and Ecosystem Expansion
Pay.sh runs on open protocols including x402 and MPP, designed for machine-native payments. The Solana Foundation noted these standards allow developers to build and extend integrations freely. The system also supports private datasets within Google Cloud, enabling enterprises to expose data through APIs while facilitators handle payments securely, without direct account creation.
The platform integrates with ecosystem partners like PayAI, Crossmint, Merit Systems, and Moonpay, which expand the API catalog and support broader agent access.
