Solana Mobile said it is developing a “universal” Android hardware integration kit with MediaTek, Trustonic, and FX Technology, aiming to bring native Solana security modules, key management, and onchain functions to mainstream Android devices. In a recent AMA, Solana Mobile general manager Emmett Hollyer said the system is being built for MediaTek’s chip architecture, expanding the project beyond its own Seeker handset.

A shift away from a single-device model

The plan points to a broader strategy change. Rather than relying only on Seeker phone sales, Solana Mobile is moving toward a licensing approach that would let Android devices powered by MediaTek chips support Solana-native security and blockchain integrations out of the box. According to the source material, Seeker has sold more than 150,000 units so far.

The report says MediaTek holds roughly 46% to 50% of the global Android chip market and ships about 2 billion chips per year. Hollyer described the effort as a major turning point for mobile crypto adoption, saying it creates an open foundation for large numbers of Android devices to connect to the Solana network.

TEE is central to the security design

At the technical level, the key component is Trustonic’s TEE, or Trusted Execution Environment. Under the design outlined in the AMA, private keys would be generated and stored inside a hardware-isolated area that is separate from the Android operating system. That means key material remains protected at the hardware layer even if the phone is hit by malware.

FX Technology is tasked with turning those specifications into reference designs that OEMs can adopt directly, avoiding the need to rebuild operating systems from scratch. Hollyer also said the team is in talks with several large hardware OEMs, though no names were disclosed, and expects to advance more partnerships at MWC in March 2026.

SKR positioned as a broader ecosystem asset

Hollyer also addressed the role of SKR, saying the token is not limited to the Seeker phone. Instead, he described it as the native asset of the wider Solana Mobile ecosystem, spanning hardware partners, integrated chips and TEE modules, the dApp store, the Seed Vault wallet, as well as governance, economic coordination, and growth incentives.

The source says SKR has a total supply of 10 billion tokens. Of that amount, 30% is allocated to community airdrops, 25% to growth and partnership funds, and 10% to future community proposals. After launching on January 21, SKR at one point surged 328% in 24 hours before pulling back as airdrop recipients sold.

Price rebound comes as new plans take shape

At the time of publication, SKR was trading near $0.0241 with a market capitalization of about $128 million. The token had gained more than 33% over the previous 24 hours. The report linked the move mainly to Robinhood listing SKR for spot trading the day before. The rebound stood out because much of the broader crypto market had been under pressure.

Beyond hardware expansion, Solana Mobile said it plans to introduce its Guardian system in 2026. The mechanism was described as a validator-like framework built for the mobile ecosystem. Helius and Jito were named as the first launch partners. In the future, SKR holders are expected to use onchain governance to decide dApp store rules, fee structures, and hardware access requirements.

As for a next-generation Seeker device, Hollyer said there is no clear plan or timeline at this stage. The near-term focus is not a new in-house phone. It is getting third-party Android brands to function as “Solana phones” through the MediaTek partnership. The team has also announced a new hackathon with $125,000 in prizes and a special award tied to SKR integration.
