Solana validators have started voting on governance proposal SGP-0003, a measure that would change part of the network’s fee structure and could sharply raise the amount of SOL burned each day. The vote opened on Aug. 23 and is set to run through Epoch 1023, which is expected to end on Aug. 27. Under the proposal, the current fixed fee model applied to affected resources would be replaced by a variable transaction fee based on resource consumption, and that fee would be burned in full. If approved, estimated daily SOL burn would increase from roughly 650 SOL to a range of 7,500 to 9,000 SOL. The proposal has not taken effect yet, and the report noted that SOL has not become deflationary as a result, with the network’s supply dynamics unchanged for now. Techub News reported the update, citing Bitcoinist.

Solana validators have begun voting on governance proposal SGP-0003, which would revise part of the network’s fee model and could materially increase the amount of SOL burned each day.

The voting process started on Aug. 23 and will continue through Epoch 1023, which is expected to end on Aug. 27.

Proposal targets fee model changes

SGP-0003 would introduce a variable transaction fee tied to resource consumption, replacing the current fixed fee model for affected resources. The proposed fee would be burned in full.

Projected daily SOL burn could jump

If the proposal passes, daily SOL burn is expected to rise from about 650 SOL to between 7,500 and 9,000 SOL.

Voting is still underway and the proposal has not taken effect. The report added that SOL has not become deflationary on that basis, and the network’s supply dynamics have not changed at this stage.

Techub News carried the report, citing Bitcoinist.
