On April 15, 2026, Solv Protocol, an onchain bitcoin asset management platform with over $2 billion in reserves, announced a strategic integration with Utexo, a non-custodial settlement layer built on the RGB protocol and Lightning Network. The partnership introduces what the companies describe as the industry’s first truly bitcoin-native yield infrastructure, powered by atomic swaps between bitcoin (BTC) and Tether’s USDT directly on Bitcoin’s native rails.

Eliminating Custodial Risks via RGB and Lightning

According to the announcement, the new infrastructure eliminates the need for wrapped tokens, bridges, or custodial dependencies while preserving self-custody, privacy, and settlement finality. The technology leverages RGB protocol’s client-side validation, which keeps transactions confidential while anchored to Bitcoin’s UTXO model, and the Lightning Network for near-instant, low-cost transactions that settle in roughly 50 milliseconds. Enterprise-grade APIs further streamline adoption for funds, exchanges, and decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols.

The move aligns with Tether’s August 2025 announcement to issue USDT natively on RGB-compatible Lightning rails. Solv Protocol had previously participated as a strategic angel investor in Utexo’s $7.5 million seed round, which was led by Tether and other investors. Both parties identified a gap in production-ready infrastructure to support scalable, native stablecoin settlements on Bitcoin and Lightning.
