The crypto market remained in a consolidation phase on Sept. 9, according to SoSoValue, with CeFi and Layer1 standing out as the firmer segments over the past 24 hours. CeFi rose 1.66%, led by Cronos (CRO), which gained 6.93%, while Binance Coin (BNB) added 1.79%. Layer1 advanced 1.09%, with Polkadot (DOT) up 12.12% and Zcash (ZEC) up 3.68%. PayFi also posted a smaller gain of 0.59%, helped by a 7.06% rise in Ultima (ULTIMA). At the same time, Bitcoin (BTC) slipped 0.63% and fell below $79,000, while Ethereum (ETH) edged down 0.16% and dropped below $2,500. Other segments were weaker overall: Meme fell 0.54% despite a 30.19% jump in Useless Coin (USELESS), DeFi lost 0.79%, Layer2 declined 0.94%, and RWA dropped 2.93%. Sector indexes tracking historical performance showed ssiCeFi up 1.66%, while ssiNFT and ssiRWA fell 3.26% and 3.03%, respectively.

CeFi and Layer1 outperformed
SoSoValue data showed the CeFi sector rose 1.66% over the past 24 hours. Within the group, Cronos (CRO) gained 6.93% and Binance Coin (BNB) climbed 1.79%.
The Layer1 sector rose 1.09%, led by Polkadot (DOT), which advanced 12.12%, and Zcash (ZEC), which added 3.68%.
The PayFi sector also moved higher, up 0.59% in 24 hours, with Ultima (ULTIMA) rising 7.06%.
BTC fell below $79,000 and ETH slipped under $2,500
Among major assets, Bitcoin (BTC) fell 0.63% and dropped below $79,000. Ethereum (ETH) was down 0.16% and fell below $2,500.
Several other sectors posted losses
Outside the relatively firmer segments, most other sectors moved lower. The Meme sector fell 0.54%, although Useless Coin (USELESS) rose 30.19%.
The DeFi sector declined 0.79%, with Morpho Token (MORPHO) down 7.17%. Layer2 fell 0.94%, with Optimism (OP) losing 5.84%. The RWA sector dropped 2.93%, while Pendle (PENDLE) fell 5.65%.
