Weekly trading volume at South Korea’s five largest crypto CEXs jumps to KRW 31.1 trillion

South Korea’s five largest centralized crypto exchanges — Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, DigitalX and GOPAX — posted combined trading volume of about KRW 31.1 trillion during the week of Aug. 21 to Aug. 28, according to ChainCatcher. The figure, equal to more than $23 billion, was up 188.04% from KRW 10.8 trillion a week earlier. ChainCatcher said the total marked the highest level in nearly 10 months, the strongest weekly reading since late October 2025. Market share data showed Upbit remained the clear leader with 59.61%, while Bithumb ranked second at 33.11%. DigitalX, the exchange formerly known as Korbit, saw its share rise sharply by 3.477% to 4.21%. That move pushed it past Coinone, which stood at 3.05%, lifting DigitalX to third place among the five exchanges. ChainCatcher added that this was the platform’s highest market share in nearly 20 weeks.
