South Korea’s KOSPI index ended July 22 higher, gaining 49.75 points to close at 6,797.7, up 0.74% on the day. The benchmark had climbed more than 6% at one point in early trading before trimming most of those gains by the close. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 moved the other way, falling 116.59 points, or 0.18%, to finish at 66,115.60. Among major South Korean chip stocks, SK Hynix slipped 0.32%, while Samsung Electronics added 0.57%. The figures were reported in an Odaily newsflash.
