South Korea is preparing a broader corporate entry point into virtual assets. Factblock CEO and Korea Blockchain Week organizer Andrew Park said the market is shifting from retail trading toward institutional digital finance, with attention moving to custody, tokenization, stablecoins, payment and settlement infrastructure, and compliance. The Financial Services Commission has proposed a framework that would open corporate virtual asset accounts to about 3,500 listed companies and registered professional investors. In parallel, lawmakers have passed amendments to the Electronic Securities Act and the Capital Markets Act, placing tokenized real-world assets and security tokens under a unified legal framework. The Bank of Korea has finished an initial test of Project Hangang, its real-world deposit token project, and plans a second-phase institutional test by the end of 2026. Separate technical experiments used wholesale deposit tokens to let AI agents execute automated conditional trades.
