Odaily reported that SpaceX has officially gone public and disclosed its bitcoin holdings in related filing materials. The company holds 18,712 bitcoins. Based on a price of about $63,000 per bitcoin, the holding is valued at approximately $1.18 billion.
The information was disclosed in SpaceX’s S-1 IPO filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. According to the data cited from bitcointreasuries, the disclosed position makes SpaceX the eighth-largest publicly listed bitcoin-holding entity globally. The company’s average purchase cost for its bitcoin position is about $35,000 per coin.
Another public company under Elon Musk, Tesla, holds 11,509 bitcoins. Together with SpaceX’s disclosed 18,712 bitcoins, the two companies control a combined 30,221 bitcoins.
