SpaceX disclosed in its S-1 filing that it holds 18,712 BTC, a position worth about $1.18 billion based on a Bitcoin price near $63,000. The filing, submitted as part of the company’s public market debut, places SpaceX among the largest corporate Bitcoin holders disclosed by a public company.
A large Bitcoin position enters public view
The filing shows that SpaceX ranks as the eighth-largest public holder of Bitcoin. The disclosure surfaced alongside the company’s listing process, which required broader financial reporting under SEC rules. That gave investors a clearer look at balance sheet assets, including a Bitcoin reserve that had not been publicly detailed before.
SpaceX also indicated that the Bitcoin position has been on its balance sheet for some time. Its reported average acquisition cost is about $35,000 per BTC, well below current market levels. That leaves the company sitting on a sizable unrealized gain at present prices, though the filing did not outline any future treasury plans tied to the asset.
Combined holdings with Tesla top 30,000 BTC
The disclosure also renewed attention on Bitcoin exposure across Elon Musk-linked companies. According to the information provided, Tesla currently holds 11,509 BTC. Taken together, SpaceX and Tesla control 30,221 BTC, with a combined market value of roughly $1.9 billion at current prices.
If viewed as a single combined position, that total would stand among the largest public corporate Bitcoin holdings. The filing also said Musk is expected to retain a controlling ownership stake after the IPO, keeping the focus on how Bitcoin fits within the broader capital structure of his businesses.
IPO filing adds detail on valuation and operations
The filing outlined a blockbuster public offering beyond the Bitcoin disclosure itself. SpaceX priced its shares at $135 and raised about $75 billion, valuing the company at roughly $1.75 trillion. Investor attention has centered on businesses including Starlink, reusable rockets, Starship development, and space infrastructure.
Recent revenue was reported in a range of $18 billion to $20 billion. The company also reported operating losses, reflecting continued spending on expansion and development. With the filing now public, investors have a more complete picture of SpaceX’s financial position, including its previously undisclosed Bitcoin holdings.
