SpaceX is expanding its search for engineering and technical talent, with founder Elon Musk saying the company wants people who can help build and operate what he called the most powerful AI supercomputer clusters on and off Earth.
Musk calls for AI infrastructure hires
According to the article, Musk said in a social media post that SpaceX is looking globally for exceptional engineers and skilled technicians. The stated goal is to support the construction and operation of the company’s AI supercomputer clusters.
The application process described in the post departs from a standard recruiting route. Interested candidates are asked to send their resumes directly to datacenters@spacex.com and include only three specific examples that demonstrate exceptional ability.
Core hiring remains highly selective
While the submission process appears simple, the report says SpaceX’s actual screening standards remain among the toughest in the tech sector. Its hiring process generally includes technical testing, multiple rounds of cross-department interviews, and high-pressure presentations in which candidates are asked to walk senior engineers through past project details and explain how they solved problems.
The article adds that many core roles are tied to U.S. national security and sensitive aerospace technologies. As a result, they are commonly restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, or ITAR. Applicants for those positions typically need to be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and background and security checks are described as especially strict.
Starlink growth roles open across the U.S.
Outside its main R&D and manufacturing bases, SpaceX is also hiring for more localized commercial roles tied to Starlink, its satellite internet service. Based on public listings on the company’s hiring site, SpaceX is recruiting multiple Starlink Growth Leads.
Those jobs do not require candidates to be permanently based at the company’s California headquarters or Texas launch facilities and can be performed remotely, according to the article. The roles are focused on consumer customer acquisition and subscription growth in specific markets, including Colorado. Responsibilities include building scalable growth engines through local partnerships, field marketing, and events.
Qualifications and travel expectations
The basic qualifications listed for the role include a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economics, engineering, or a related field, along with more than five years of experience in business development, partnership building, growth, sales, marketing, consulting, or operations.
The article says candidates are also expected to show a strong drive, creativity, and the ability to work independently. Even though the role can be remote, travel may account for more than 75% of total working time, including trips to customer locations and other SpaceX offices.
