SpaceXAI, the company under Elon Musk, said on July 16 that it has open-sourced Grok Build and reset usage limits for all users. In response to privacy questions, the company said Grok Build has followed a zero data retention, or ZDR, principle since launch. It added that users have always been able to disable data uploads through the command-line interface. SpaceXAI also said that in the early beta, data retention was enabled by default for non-ZDR users. As of July 12, the company has disabled default data retention for all Grok Build users and is deleting all previously retained coding data to respect each user’s preference.
