Cross-chain infrastructure platform Squid announced that it has integrated RLUSD, the stablecoin issued by Ripple. With the integration, users can move between different blockchains and digital assets and complete a swap into or out of RLUSD in one transaction, rather than manually separating the process into bridging, wrapping tokens, and executing multiple trades.

RLUSD joins Squid’s supported cross-chain network

Through this integration, RLUSD is connected to the more than 100 blockchains and over 20,000 tokens supported by Squid. Users can directly swap assets such as USDC, USDT, ETH, and XRP into RLUSD, and can also swap out of RLUSD into other supported assets. Squid said the flow is designed to remove the need for users to manually bridge assets, wrap tokens, or perform several transactions across different environments.

RLUSD is currently issued natively on XRP Ledger and Ethereum. It has also been extended through Wormhole’s Native Token Transfer standard to XRPL EVM Sidechain, Optimism, Base, Ink, Unichain, and other Ethereum Layer 2 networks. Squid’s routing layer sits above these underlying transfer mechanisms, allowing users to access RLUSD without being limited by the specific chain on which the stablecoin is issued.

Intent-based routing and developer use cases

Squid said its intent-based routing system relies on market makers to use liquidity on the destination chain to fill orders. According to the platform, this structure can settle transactions within seconds and is compatible with multiple cross-chain messaging and issuance standards. In this setup, the user submits the desired transaction outcome, while the routing layer and destination-chain liquidity handle execution.

The integration is not limited to end users seeking cross-chain swaps. Developers can also connect RLUSD through Squid’s tools. According to the announcement, the supported use cases include cross-chain payments, treasury management, user deposits, and DeFi applications, allowing RLUSD to be incorporated into product flows across the multichain environment covered by Squid.
