Standard Chartered has expanded its deliverable Bitcoin and Ether spot trading services to institutional clients in the UAE as of September 3, becoming the first global systemically important bank to offer such services in the country. The service is provided through its Dubai International Financial Centre branch, enabling clients to trade via their existing FX trading interface and receive the underlying assets upon settlement. The CEO of Standard Chartered UAE, Middle East, and Pakistan noted that the UAE has established a clear regulatory framework for digital assets that supports institutional participation and innovation. The bank initially launched institutional crypto spot trading through its UK branch in July 2025.

That makes it the first global systemically important bank to offer that service in the country. The product is being offered through the bank's branch in the Dubai International Financial Centre, and clients can trade through the foreign exchange interface they already use, then receive the underlying assets at settlement.
