Story, a blockchain project focused on intellectual property infrastructure, has rebranded to DATA Foundation and shifted its business focus to AI training data. It launched Trace, a on-chain data registration and audit platform, and announced a 1:1 token migration from IP token to DATA token. The foundation also integrated with AI training data marketplace Kled, bringing over 1.5 billion user-contributed data records onto the DATA network, with each contribution generating an on-chain receipt recording source, authorization, consent, and payment details.

Rebranding and Strategic Pivot: From On-Chain IP to AI Training Data

According to The Block, Story, a project originally built for on-chain intellectual property infrastructure, has officially rebranded as DATA Foundation. The project's core business focus has shifted entirely to the AI training data sector. This strategic pivot reflects the growing demand for data provenance and compliance in the AI industry and positions the blockchain as a trust layer for data contributions.

Token Migration and the Trace Platform

Along with the rebranding, the native IP token will be migrated to the new DATA token at a 1:1 ratio. Token holders do not need to take any active action; the project will announce specific migration timelines and guides later. Simultaneously, the team launched Trace, an on-chain data registration and audit platform. Trace generates an on-chain receipt for each data contribution, recording the data source, authorization method, contributor consent, and payment information. It supports settlements in both stablecoins and fiat currencies.

Deep Integration with Kled: 1.5 Billion Data Records On-Chain

DATA Foundation also announced a deep integration with AI training data marketplace Kled. Through this partnership, over 1.5 billion user-contributed data records will be brought onto the DATA network. Each contribution is immutably recorded on the blockchain via Trace, ensuring data provenance and compliance. This infrastructure provides a reliable and auditable data foundation for training AI models.
