Strategy purchased 1,031 BTC for about $76.6 million in the week ended March 22, 2026, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The latest purchase was made at an average price of $74,326 per Bitcoin, bringing the company’s total holdings to 762,099 BTC.
Weekly acquisition drops far below recent billion-dollar buys
The new purchase was much smaller than the company’s buying activity in the prior two weeks. In one of those weeks, Strategy acquired 22,337 BTC. In another, it bought 17,994 BTC. Both transactions were worth more than $1 billion, showing a far more aggressive accumulation pace than the latest filing.
The average price paid in the recent transaction also came in below the company’s overall average acquisition cost. Strategy’s average purchase price across all holdings stands at $75,694 per BTC. That places the latest buy under its broader cost basis, even as the scale of the weekly addition fell sharply.
Funding source shifts from preferred equity to common stock
Strategy used sales of Class A common stock to fund this latest Bitcoin purchase. That marks a change from earlier transactions, when the company leaned heavily on preferred equity, including its STRC issuance. That offering raised about $1.2 billion and helped finance larger rounds of Bitcoin accumulation.
The filing points to an adjustment in capital strategy rather than a halt in purchases. Strategy is still adding Bitcoin to its balance sheet, but the company is doing so with a different funding mix and at a slower weekly rate.
March purchases top 41,000 BTC as holdings remain below cost
During March alone, Strategy acquired 41,362 BTC for roughly $2.93 billion. At acquisition cost, its current holdings are valued at about $57.69 billion.
At the same time, the reported market backdrop remains weaker than Strategy’s aggregate entry price. With Bitcoin trading near $70,000 during the period referenced in the report, the company’s portfolio was valued at around $54 billion, or about 7% below cost. Strategy remains the largest public corporate holder of Bitcoin, though its stack is now slightly smaller than the roughly 785,300 BTC held by investors through BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust.
