Strategy, the company led by Michael Saylor, has doubled down on Bitcoin yet again. It purchased 1,142 BTC for about $90 million, at an average price of $78,815 per coin. The acquisition brings the firm's total stash to 714,644 BTC, now worth roughly $49.36 billion at current market prices near $69,126.
Saylor teased the move in his usual Sunday X post, writing “99>98” with a link to Strategy's Bitcoin portfolio tracker. The cryptic message hinted at continued accumulation. Despite the position sitting about $5.1 billion below the cumulative purchase cost, Saylor stated firmly: “We expect to keep buying BTC every quarter indefinitely.” The remark underscores unwavering conviction even amid volatility.
Technical Signals: Monthly MACD Cross and 4-Year SMA Point to Cycle Bottom
Analyst CrypFlow noted that the 1-month MACD for Bitcoin has broken above multi-year downtrend support. “After more than 2000 days, the monthly MACD crossed again,” he wrote. Historically, such a cross has coincided with altcoins gaining relative strength against BTC. The next key factors: trend support holding and monthly MACD follow-through.
Meanwhile, analyst Darkfost highlighted a four-year simple moving average (SMA) based metric. BTC has moved back into the green zone, approaching its four-year SMA around $57,500. Darkfost explained: “Historically, this level has often marked the final stage of each bear market.” Bitcoin tends to trade around these levels for several months, offering a potential buying opportunity.
Beyond Strategy's aggressive buying, these technical trends signal long-term bullish potential. Investor sentiment has turned positive — Strategy's stock jumped nearly 9% in after-hours trading. Continued MACD and SMA signals may lure more institutional players. Still, short-term volatility remains a factor to watch.
