Strategy purchased 13,927 bitcoin for approximately $1 billion at an average price of $71,902 per coin on April 13, 2026, pushing its total holdings to 780,897 BTC. Executive Chairman Michael Saylor confirmed the move via X, noting the company's BTC Yield reached 5.6% year-to-date in 2026.
Largest Single-Week Buy in Months
Saylor posted the figures directly from strategy.com seconds after markets opened. The latest acquisition price sits below the firm's overall cost basis of $75,577, indicating Strategy took advantage of a dip. As of April 12, 2026, the company's cumulative bitcoin investment stands at approximately $59.02 billion.
BTC Breakeven Rate and Dividend Coverage
Saylor separately disclosed that the BTC Breakeven Annual Return Rate is about 2.05%. He stated the company can cover preferred stock dividends indefinitely without issuing new MSTR shares as long as BTC grows faster than that threshold.
Funding via Equity and Convertible Debt
Strategy continues to fund bitcoin acquisitions through equity and convertible debt offerings tied to its MSTR and STRC tickers. In the days prior to the purchase, Saylor posted “Still stacking” on April 9 and shared a chart mapping over 100 prior purchase events against bitcoin's price history since August 2020.
The $1 billion buy marks one of the company's largest single-week acquisitions in recent months. Strategy remains the largest known corporate holder of bitcoin globally.
