Strategy said it purchased 22,305 BTC between Jan. 12 and Jan. 19, 2026, spending about $2.125 billion at an average price of $95,284 per bitcoin. The latest disclosure shows the company kept adding to its position even as bitcoin traded in a volatile upper range.

Total bitcoin holdings reach 709,715 BTC

After the latest purchase, Strategy's total bitcoin holdings stood at 709,715 BTC as of Jan. 19, 2026. The company said its cumulative spending on bitcoin has reached roughly $53.92 billion, with an overall average acquisition cost of about $75,979 per BTC. That pushed its treasury above the 700,000 BTC mark.

The source material said market observers viewed the move as a sign that Strategy has not changed its long-term stance on bitcoin. Price swings have picked up, but the company continued to add at elevated levels rather than slowing purchases.

ATM share sales funded the latest purchase

Strategy said the buy was mainly funded through proceeds from its ATM, or At-The-Market, equity issuance program. According to the announcement, the company raised about $2.125 billion in net proceeds during the same Jan. 12 to Jan. 19 period by selling common stock and several series of preferred shares.

Its common stock MSTR and the STRC variable-rate perpetual preferred stock were identified as the main funding sources. The company also said that as of Jan. 19, it still had substantial issuance capacity remaining under the ATM program, leaving room to raise more capital and potentially buy additional bitcoin.

Purchase pace remains a key market focus

With Strategy's bitcoin balance continuing to grow, its fundraising activity and purchase cadence are being watched closely. The source noted that analysts are focused on whether the company will keep using equity issuance to fund more bitcoin accumulation, a pattern that has drawn attention from both stock investors and crypto market participants.
