Strategy disclosed in its latest Form 8-K filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it purchased 24,869 BTC between May 11, 2026 and May 17, 2026, spending about $2.01 billion including fees and expenses. After the purchase, the company’s total bitcoin holdings reached 843,738 BTC.

A $2.01 billion bitcoin purchase in seven days

The filing was signed by Executive Vice President and General Counsel Thomas C. Chow and submitted to the SEC as a current report. According to the document, Strategy completed the latest round of bitcoin accumulation over the course of one week. The company said the newly acquired 24,869 BTC cost roughly $2.01 billion.

The company appears in the filing as Strategy Inc., while many market participants still know it by its former name, MicroStrategy. The latest disclosure follows the same pattern seen in prior purchases: raising capital in public markets and deploying it into bitcoin.

Total bitcoin stack rises to 843,738 BTC

As of May 17, 2026, Strategy reported total holdings of 843,738 BTC. The filing also listed the company’s aggregate historical purchase cost at about $63.187 billion, implying an average acquisition price of roughly $75,700 per BTC.

Those figures show the scale of the latest addition clearly. The company added nearly 25,000 BTC in a single week, pushing its cumulative holdings past the 840,000 mark.

ATM issuance remained the main funding channel

Strategy said the purchase was financed through its At-The-Market, or ATM, issuance program. Under that structure, the company sells securities into the market and uses the proceeds to raise cash.

During the May 11 to May 17 period, Strategy raised money through two instruments. It sold 19.51 million shares of its Series A preferred stock with a 10% coupon, generating about $1.952 billion in net proceeds. It also sold 430,344 shares of Class A common stock, MSTR, for about $83.7 million in net proceeds. Combined, the two offerings brought in about $2.0327 billion in net cash.

Based on the filing, that capital was quickly converted into additional bitcoin holdings.
