Strike, a Bitcoin payment app, officially launched its Bitcoin-backed line of credit on March 4, 2026. The service enables holders to use their BTC as collateral to borrow U.S. dollars without selling their coins, letting them retain upside exposure while accessing cash. Strike calls it a major step toward "living on Bitcoin."
Key features of the service
The line of credit is designed for flexibility. Borrowers can take out as little as $1, with interest charged only on the amount drawn. No fees apply on unused credit. Repayment is open-ended — users can pay back anytime with no fixed maturity. The application requires no traditional credit check; it relies solely on the value of the Bitcoin collateral. Strike says the goal is to offer liquidity without forcing holders to sell at unfavorable prices.
Availability and rollout
The credit line is currently live in Georgia and Massachusetts. Strike plans to expand to other U.S. states soon, though no specific timeline has been provided. The company is working through regulatory approvals to broaden access.
Strike founder Jack Mallers described the product as "the Bitcoin life hack" — save in Bitcoin, spend in fiat, sell nothing, and keep stacking satoshis. He urged users to leverage borrowing instead of selling, reinforcing the idea of holding long-term while meeting short-term cash needs.
