Stripe’s stablecoin infrastructure company Bridge has entered the European Union’s MiCA register through its Luxembourg entity, Bridge Building, after receiving regulatory approval in Luxembourg.
An update from the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) on Wednesday showed that the number of MiCA-authorized electronic money token (EMT) issuers in the EU register has increased to 42 since Bridge was added.
Bridge said on July 2 that it had received a MiCA crypto-asset service provider (CASP) authorization and an electronic money institution (EMI) license from Luxembourg’s financial regulator, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier. Bridge product lead Mai Leduc Blount said the approval allows EU companies to build stablecoin and payments products within a regulated framework.
The same ESMA update also added three German CASP entries: Volksbank Die Gestalterbank, VBU Volksbank im Unterland and VR-Bank Erding. That brought the total number of authorized CASPs in the EU register to 324.
Authorization for asset-referenced tokens (ARTs) was unchanged, and no ART issuer is listed in the register.
