Stripe co-founders Patrick Collison and John Collison told investors that remaining a private company is becoming an increasingly clear advantage as uncertainty builds around the artificial intelligence era. The comments were made in an investor letter sent on the same day Stripe announced its acquisition of AI infrastructure company OpenRouter. In the same note, John Collison said stablecoin usage is growing quickly and added that Stripe is "not in a hurry" to pursue an initial public offering. The update adds to the company’s recent positioning as it expands its AI and payments footprint while holding off on a public listing. Stripe was valued at $159 billion in February this year, according to PaymentsDive.
