CZ comments on BNB Chain’s new Layer 1 plan

CZ responded to a post about BNB Chain’s new Layer 1 plan by writing, “Multiple chains, one coin.”

According to the post, which cited official BNB Chain documentation, the new Layer 1 will coexist with BSC and connect through a native cross-chain bridge. It will not issue a separate token and will continue using BNB for transaction fees, staking and governance.

The new chain has not yet been named. Its targets include 200-millisecond block times and roughly 20-millisecond transaction pre-confirmation. The project is currently running an internal multi-validator devnet, with a testnet planned for late 2026 and a mainnet launch planned for early 2027.

Latvian Economy Minister Viktors Valainis said the country plans to introduce regulatory rules for real-world asset, or RWA, tokenization in the first half of 2027. Commercial real estate could be among the first application areas, and government bonds are also being treated as a priority.

The Ministry of Economics is working with the central bank, the finance ministry and industry representatives on the framework, with the stated aim of attracting investment and advancing asset tokenization. A legal assessment that had been scheduled for completion on Oct. 1 is still underway, and the implementation timeline has not been finalized.

Bank of Israel rejects crypto as a sanctions workaround

The Bank of Israel publicly opposed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s idea of using cryptocurrencies to respond to possible international financial sanctions.

On Oct. 24, the central bank said cryptocurrencies could not serve as a means to bypass sanctions on Israel. It said the government should focus on maintaining economic ties with major trading partners and preventing sanctions and their negative effects.

A day earlier, on Oct. 23, Netanyahu said in a television interview that Israel needed to prepare an alternative economic system in case of possible international banking sanctions, and that he had asked for research into options including blockchain and cryptocurrencies.
