Sudan, an assistant professor of finance at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, said at an event in Hong Kong on Aug. 29 that the combination of AI and Web3 is becoming increasingly certain as AI moves beyond information assistance and toward making decisions and carrying out tasks for users. He said that once AI begins executing transactions directly, payment and asset ownership confirmation will become unavoidable steps, creating a clear role for Web3 and digital currencies. Sudan also said AI is changing how companies compete. In his view, the AI products that will matter in the future will not stop at handling a small step in a workflow. They will need to build a full business loop and take responsibility for final outcomes. As model capabilities and workflows become more commoditized, he said companies’ competitive moats will shift more toward proprietary data, real-world use cases, and deeply integrated business processes.

According to BlockBeats, Sudan, an assistant professor of finance at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, said on Aug. 29 at the "AI × New Finance—Global Innovation Tour Hong Kong and CKGSB Stars Program Launch" that AI is moving beyond assisting with information processing and toward making decisions and executing tasks on behalf of users as the volume of information continues to surge.

He said that once AI starts executing transactions directly, payment and asset ownership confirmation will become unavoidable parts of the process. That, he added, is where Web3 and digital currencies can play a role, making convergence between AI and Web3 a highly certain trend.

Sudan also said AI is reshaping the way companies compete. The AI products that will carry real value in the future, he said, cannot be limited to completing only a small step within a workflow. They need to form a closed business loop and be accountable for the final result. As model capabilities and workflows gradually become commoditized, companies’ moats will shift more toward proprietary data, real-world scenarios, and deeply bound business processes.
