Layer 1 blockchain Sui said its programmable offchain channels processed more than 40 million transactions per second in a live stress test designed for high-frequency activity by AI agents. The demonstration took place on Wednesday at Sui Basecamp in Singapore, where the system reached a peak of 40,614,180 TPS, beating a similar test from July by roughly 6.1 million TPS. During the test, transactions were handled through Sui’s offchain channels and settled to the Sui mainnet when the channels were closed. Sui said more than 10,000 channels were opened on mainnet during the exercise, covering use cases including payments, gaming and chat applications. The company said the channels are intended to support high-frequency workloads, including interactions between AI agents, without sending every transaction directly onchain. Mysten Labs co-founder and Chief Product Officer Adeniyi Abiodun said Sui was built for a future in which millions of AI agents transact every day. Security firm CertiK served as an independent auditor during the demonstration and is reviewing the test data, with a report expected in the coming days.
Layer 1 blockchain Sui said its programmable offchain channels processed more than 40 million transactions per second in a live stress test aimed at high-frequency activity from AI agents, setting a new high above the record posted in July this year.
The test was conducted on Wednesday at Sui Basecamp in Singapore. According to Sui, the system reached a peak of 40,614,180 TPS, about 6.1 million TPS higher than the level recorded in a similar test in July.
During the exercise, transactions were processed through Sui’s offchain channels. Those programmable channels settle back to the Sui mainnet when they are closed. Sui said more than 10,000 channels were opened on mainnet during the test, with activity spanning payments, gaming and chat applications.
Sui said the channels are designed to carry high-frequency activity, including interactions between AI agents, without requiring every transaction to be handled directly onchain.
Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and chief product officer at Mysten Labs, an original contributor to Sui, said: “Sui was built for the moment when millions of AI agents transact every day.” He added: “There is no market in the world that needs 6 million transactions per second, let alone 40 million. Humans do not move that fast, but agents will.”
Security firm CertiK acted as the independent auditor during the demonstration and is reviewing the test data. Its report is expected in the coming days.
