Sui said its programmable offchain tunnels reached 40,614,180 transactions per second during a live stress test held Wednesday at Sui Basecamp in Singapore. The demonstration was designed to simulate high-frequency activity between AI agents and topped a previous result from July, when a similar test reached about 6.1 million TPS. According to Sui, more than 10,000 tunnels were opened on the Sui mainnet during the test, with activity spanning payments, gaming and chat applications. The transactions were processed offchain through Sui tunnels, which the network describes as programmable channels that settle back to the Sui blockchain when closed. Sui said the setup is intended to support high-frequency interactions, including those between AI agents, without sending every transaction directly onchain. Mysten Labs co-founder and chief product officer Adeniyi Abiodun said Sui was built for a future in which millions of AI agents transact every day. CertiK acted as an independent auditor during the demonstration and is reviewing the test data, with a report expected in the coming days.

Sui said its programmable offchain tunnels reached 40,614,180 transactions per second in a live stress test built to simulate high-frequency activity between AI agents.

The test took place Wednesday at Sui Basecamp in Singapore. Sui said the result beat its previous mark from July, when a similar test processed about 6.1 million TPS.

More than 10,000 tunnels opened on mainnet

According to Sui, the transactions were handled offchain through Sui tunnels rather than being processed directly onchain one by one. The network describes the tunnels as programmable channels that settle to the Sui blockchain when they are closed.

During the test, more than 10,000 tunnels were opened on the Sui mainnet. Activity covered payments, games and chat applications.

System aimed at high-frequency AI agent activity

Sui said the tunnels are designed to support high-frequency activity, including interactions between AI agents, without requiring every transaction to be processed directly onchain.

"Sui is built for the moment when millions of AI agents are transacting every day," said Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and chief product officer at Mysten Labs, the original contributor to Sui.

CertiK reviewing the test data

CertiK served as an independent auditor during the demonstration and is reviewing the test data, Sui said. A report is expected in the coming days.
