AI, crypto and chips dominated TechFlow’s daily watchlist
TechFlow said its AI agent scanned more than 200 information sources worldwide and filtered the day’s key signals across AI, crypto, technology and macro markets.
AI and large models
OpenAI released GPT-5.6, and the update drew unusual attention online. Citing Hacker News, TechFlow said the post collected more than 1,300 upvotes and 917 comments in one day. It described GPT-5.6 as the first minor update in the GPT-5 series and said the discussion level exceeded what is typically seen on the day of a new model release.
OpenAI was also at the center of a privacy dispute. TechFlow said millions of ChatGPT conversations had been searchable and that Reddit users were debating whether OpenAI selectively disclosed user conversation records while withholding some data.
Meta’s in-house AI chip, Iris, is set for mass production in September, with a 2027 compute target of 14 gigawatts, according to TechFlow, citing Wallstreetcn and Reddit. The report said Meta is accelerating efforts to reduce reliance on Nvidia, joining Apple and Google in pushing internal chip development.
Crypto and Web3
Robinhood Chain attracted more than $70 million in bridged ETH in its first week, TechFlow said, citing Cointelegraph. The report framed the move as a fast start for a Wall Street brokerage entering the layer-2 segment.
Bitcoin moved close to $64,000. TechFlow, citing CoinDesk, said the move was supported by a rebound in chip stocks and a stronger yen. It also noted that BTC was up 4.2% over seven days, with oil price volatility, bond selling and clashes involving the U.S. and Iran appearing in the broader backdrop described in the roundup.
Metaplanet and JPYC are exploring bitcoin-backed digital bonds, according to TechFlow’s summary of a Cointelegraph report. The item pointed to an effort by Japanese companies to test digital bond issuance using BTC as credit backing.
Chips and hardware
Micron said it will expand its U.S. investment to more than $250 billion by 2035, according to TechFlow, citing Cailian Press. The roundup also said Lutnick urged SK Hynix and Samsung to expand production.
SK Hynix priced its ADR at $149 and raised $26.5 billion in its IPO before listing on Nasdaq the same day, according to TechFlow, citing Wallstreetcn and CNBC. The report said the debut would test whether the company could shake the so-called “Korea discount.”
GigaDevice expects first-half net profit to rise 1,099% year over year, TechFlow said, citing Wallstreetcn. It linked the result to rising volume and pricing in memory chips.
Samsung and SK Hynix have delayed the use of hybrid bonding packaging technology, according to TechFlow, citing Cailian Press. The item said the slower rollout reflected easing urgency in advanced packaging and a chip market where AI supply and demand had moved closer to balance.
Big Tech, U.S. stocks and macro
Apple executives commented on stronger AI-related demand for the Mac Mini and on-device AI plans, according to TechFlow’s summary of a MacRumors report. The piece said Apple is leaning on M-series chips to build local AI capability.
Microsoft’s carbon emissions rose 25% year over year in 2025, TechFlow said, citing The Verge, which tied the increase to the company’s AI data center buildout.
Two new ETFs explicitly exclude Elon Musk-related companies, according to TechFlow, citing TechCrunch. The report said the products avoid Tesla, SpaceX and X.
In U.S. equities, chip stocks led gains. TechFlow cited Jin10 data showing Micron up 4.5%, SanDisk up 7.5% and Western Digital up 5%, while the S&P 500 added 0.8% and the Nasdaq rose 1.3%.
Meta gained 4.7%, with CNBC, as cited by TechFlow, saying the company’s internal chip push helped lift sentiment.
On the macro side, TechFlow said the Federal Reserve announced the leadership lineup for five reform working groups, citing Wallstreetcn. Former central bank officials, Silicon Valley AI figures and a Nobel economics laureate were said to be involved, drawing attention to whether the monetary policy framework could see significant changes.
TechFlow also cited Reuters in reporting that European diesel refining margins hit a record high on Wednesday after supply disruptions in the Middle East forced buyers to draw down inventories.
Poland’s central bank has bought 82 tonnes of gold this year, including 37 tonnes since April, according to TechFlow, citing Cailian Press.
New products and trends
China’s Long March 10B rocket completed a recovery test using what TechFlow described, citing Zhihu and Cailian Press, as the world’s first offshore net-based recovery system. The roundup said the result marked a new step for China’s commercial reusable rocket efforts.
TechFlow’s main thread for the day
TechFlow said the day’s underlying thread ran through chips, AI and geopolitics. Meta and Micron were still pushing internal development and capacity expansion, SK Hynix was using a U.S. listing to test valuation appetite, and tensions involving the U.S. and Iran were feeding into fuel pricing and central bank gold accumulation.
