Tether has frozen four wallets on the TRON blockchain holding about $131 million in USDT, according to monitoring cited by ChainCatcher from on-chain investigator Specter (@SpecterAnalyst). Tracing of the funds found that most of the assets had been withdrawn from payment service provider DTC Pay and crypto exchange Bitso. A follow-up investigation said the wallets were linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, and the Central Bank of Iran, both referenced in connection with the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, or OFAC, sanctions list. No official explanation for the freeze has been released so far.
