The Sandbox and Animoca Brands have brought Web3 curation platform Corners into the broader Sandbox ecosystem, with an invite-only beta now live. Corners is designed to let users coin, curate, and share internet content, turning collections of links, conversations, and other online material into transferable digital assets called Corner Coins. A waitlist is open at www.corners.market.
Corners turns curated link collections into digital assets
According to the announcement, anyone can create a Corner Coin from a curated group of internet links and related content. After a corner is created, other users can add links or new material, helping expand the collection and its value over time. Communities on the platform form around topics, ideas, or narrow niches, while participants can comment, upvote, and contribute to the growth of each corner.
The rollout pushes The Sandbox beyond its gaming roots. The release says this fits the direction outlined in The Sandbox 3.0, which aims to grow the ecosystem into a wider network for digital culture distribution while adding new utility for SAND.
SAND is built into platform rewards and activity
Corners uses SAND as its main utility token across the platform. Curators can earn rewards tied to their activity and curation, while part of the platform’s activity is also used to reward Corner Coin holders in SAND. The stated goal is to widen distribution and usage of the token inside the ecosystem.
The Sandbox CEO Robby Yung said Corners shows how partners can extend the utility of SAND and support the ecosystem’s evolution beyond gaming. He said the platform gives curators a way to tokenize the content they care about and opens new room for creativity and participation.
SAND will also be available on Base through Aerodrome
Outside the Corners launch itself, SAND is set to become available on Base through an initial liquidity pool on Aerodrome. That would expand access to SAND and The Sandbox ecosystem beyond Ethereum and Polygon. The release says this creates a new entry point for on-chain communities and makes it easier to move SAND across the crypto ecosystem.
Corners is built on Base, Coinbase’s layer 2 blockchain, and is supported by The Sandbox while being powered by SAND. Before the full public rollout planned for early 2026, the project says it will publish a “How to build your corner” guide covering onboarding, market pricing, transferable digital assets, and related basics.
The Sandbox cites 400-plus partners and 30 million transactions
The Sandbox, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, describes itself as a digital culture and IP distribution ecosystem. In the release, it says the ecosystem includes more than 400 partners, 8 million users, and 30 million on-chain transactions. Named partners include Warner Music Group, Gucci, Black Mirror, and NBC Universal’s Jurassic World.
SAND already supports several parts of the broader ecosystem, including The Sandbox Game, The Sandbox DAO, SANDchain, and now Corners. Its role spans in-game economic activity, marketplace use, governance, liquidity, transactions, and rewards. With Corners entering the stack, SAND gains another use case centered on content curation and community-built collections.
